Yayılması və yaşayış yeri

Bu nəsilə aid növlər istisevəndir. Nisbətən yüksək temperatur ərazilərdə yaşayırlar. Afrotropik bölgələrin quru savannalarından isti çöl şəraitinə qədər olan ərazilərdə məskunlaşıblar. Onlar yalnız Cənubi və Şərqi Afrikada yayılıblar. Qərbi və Mərkəzi Afrikada və ya Sahraaltı sahil zonasında heç bir növə rast gəlinmir.[3] Yuvaları dərin torpaqda adətən qumlu torpaqda yerləşir və koloniyalar 200-1000 fərddən ibarətdir. Quraq iqlimə uyğunlaşmış bu qarışqalar gündüz vaxtı olduqca sürətli hərəkət edirlər. Onlar əsasən isti şəraitdə ölmüş heyvanların meyitləri, termitlər və toxumlarla qidalanırlar.[4]
